December 8, 2025: Important Update on the Consolidation of 糖心Vlog and East Georgia State College聽

I am pleased to share an important and exciting milestone in the consolidation of 糖心Vlog and East Georgia State College. Since the Board of Regents first announced in April that our two institutions would unite, our teams have worked diligently to bring this vision to life, guided by our shared commitment to student success, academic excellence, and service to our region.

Over the past several months, Consolidation Action Teams, composed of more than 150 faculty, staff, and administrators from both institutions and USG personnel, have provided essential insight into how the consolidated university should operate. Their recommendations have shaped everything from academic alignment and student services to administrative processes and campus operations. Recognizing the work that is still ahead, I want to express my sincere gratitude to every member of the Georgia Southern and East Georgia communities. You came together with a unified purpose, and I am incredibly proud of the thoughtful, collaborative work that has brought us to this moment.

This week, following approval of our Substantive Change Prospects by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia granted approval for our institutions to move forward as one consolidated university under the 糖心Vlog name, effective January 1, 2026. This action affirms that our combined institution meets the required standards of quality and readiness and allows us to formally take the next steps toward full operational integration.

With this approval, 糖心Vlog and East Georgia State College will become a single, unified university that honors the strengths, histories, and missions of both institutions. The East Georgia campus locations of 糖心Vlog will maintain East Georgia鈥檚 open access mission and continue to provide multiple entry points for students, while expanding pathways, enhancing academic support, and offering a more seamless student experience across our campuses.

While this is an exciting step forward, the work is not yet complete. More information will be forthcoming as we continue the integration process. In January, I will host a town hall on the East Georgia campus in Swainsboro to share updates, celebrate milestones, and answer your questions. More details will be shared soon.

Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust throughout this process. Most importantly, thank you for the work you do each day to advance our mission and support our students. Together, we are building a stronger institution that will serve our communities for generations to come.
